I heard from Auntie Christy who talked talked with Richard regarding the clinical trial, and though it's been an extremely hard road, I hear that 1/2 of KK's tumors are GONE!! I'll get confirmation and additional info on Friday, but for now this is exceptionally awesome news!!
More info this weekend!!
Mike
Here's an update from Uncle D who did talk with the family:
Uncle D here. Just add a bit more. After the scans on Monday, the only
known cancer is in the lungs and those tumors have shrunk by 1/2.
Everything else is gone!

Chemo Restart and Update 9/26/08
KK had a Dr's appointment on Monday mainly to check on his fingers and toes.. not his head and shoulders, knees and toes, just his fingers and toes :-)
Well, Everything looks great and he is healing very quickly from the side effects of the Chemo. Most importantly though he is not in any pain currently and he was even able to wear tennis shoes without pain!! He had another appointment on Thursday just for one more check up. He has a CT scan and a bone scan set for Monday. He will most liekly also start the lower dose of the chemo. Becuase it's a clinical trial, the Dr's don't know if the side effect symptoms will return, but if they do we now know the warning signs!
As for the game.....Here's what Alanna told me about that and I qutoe
......"sooooooo much fun. We met Matt Hasselbecks wife and Craig
Terrills wife. They gave us t-shirts and a book of the players. Kelton met Craig
and got his autograph and we also met Marcus Truffant. Who happens to be one of
Richards favs. Being on the field was so cool. I tried to get Kk to streak to
the 50 yard line, but you know how he likes to "obey the rules"---whatever. I
did get him to run towards the end zone and he laid flat on his back enjoying
the grass. It was all to cool. And of course I couldn't resist so I strutted
down the line and pretended I was a sea gal. I think they will be calling me
soon to ask me to join the squad. Man I was sooo good. We walk down the hall
and passed the locker room, where Richie tried to get in by slowly jogging down
the hall and ran into security...we wanted the guard to taser him but no go. We
took [a friend] with us and he took pictures so hopefully we will get to
share with everyone soon."
That's the update for now look for the pictures in the gallery soon once I get them from Alanna :-)
Next update after scans and back on Chemo next week. Have a great weekend and keep the positive energy a-flowin'! You all know that it's working and that we can TELL when you let it drop a little!! :-)

They find out when they will be going back on the chemo, at a lower dosage, next week. I'm sure he's not looking forward to that, but it's amazing the help they are providing to cancer research and hopefully blistering this cancers Heine at the same time. Hang in there KK and all you loyal readers thank you for the 2 out rally!! The positive thoughts, prayers and guestbook entries really helped KK get through this tough patch and I and the family thank you all! It's a long tough battle but KK is strong and tough! I'll update again with more in fo when I get it..

Update 9/16/08 - Clinical Trial
Dear KK Fans, I haven't updated in awhile as there were some changes to treatment options for KK that we were waiting to see somethings... well at the last minute before they were to begin the next step in KK's treatment that consisted of taking out one lobe of his lung and more chemo and some laser ablations of tumors they got a call from their team at Children's. The team had found a new clinical trial that had jsut opened for kids and that KK was eligible for it. They had to make a snap decision in two days, so we had a bit of a family meeting and everyone agreed that the trial was the way to go but ultimately it was Alanna and Richards tough decision. They chose to enroll KK in the trial. The trial consists of a ton of tests and a daily chemo pill with the potential for some not pleasant side effects. The first phase of the trial that KK was enrolled in was to study some of the side effects but also to find the correct dosages for kids with this particual type of drug as it has been very successful in treating some cancers like Kelton's. He's been on it now for a few weeks and the side effects are much worse then expected. KK is in constant pain with blisters and sores on his hands, feet and face and his Blood pressure is very high. He's on pain medication, but even that doesn't help much. They have now stopped the medication to let him heal the sores and blisters and then they will start a lower dosage. They don't know if the drug is doing what it's supposed to yet as they haven't had any scans to find out. Everyone please pass the word that KK and family need your support, love and prayers to help them through this tough times. I'll update again when we know more, until then make a deal with yourslef to visit the site, and resend it to your friends to drop by the guestbook and send your positive energy to KK, Richard and Alanna.

Cancer Kickin' Update
So they talked to the Dr. today and got an update, I'll start with the good news and that is that the cancer in KK's Leg is gone! It is still active in his lungs but the chemo that they were on did a good job of - in firefighters terms a "quick knock down" which is what that particular type of chemo is for. So it did it's job and they are done with that particular "flavor". The family is meeting with the Dr's next Thursday to find out the next step be that surgery to remove the lower lobe of his lung or do a fancy new laser procedure to burn out the nodules or a new flavor of chemo or any combination thereof.... so keep on Kickin' it KK and keep the positive eneergy flowing for KK!!! Next update after they meet with the Drs next week!

PET Scan results and Biopsy 8/25
As everyone knows KK had his 1st PET scan on Monday last week. They got the results of that today along with having a biopsy done on a nodule in his lung. So the results of the PET scan still show cancer cell activity in the nodules (tumors) in his lungs, and maybe also in the original location of the cancer, but because this was his 1st PET scan they can't say for sure as they don't have anything to compare it with. But good news is that a tumor in his lung has shrunk from 19mm to 17mm, and no mention of any cancer in his kidneys or bones!!
They did a biopsy as well today on a large nodule in his lung and should get the results of that tomorrow when they hear from the Dr. Not sure if you all recall, but the last biopsy KK had done, he ended up with bleeding in his lung and in the ICU, well we all know that KK is a super trooper and a quick learner so he must have used his super ninja-like powers this time as there was very little bleeding and it stopped right away and he was able to go home this afternoon and is doing just fine and is in good spirits. So once they get the results from the biopsy today (they said tomorrow, but we know how that goes right?) they will also have a plan of attack to complete the can of whoop-a$$ that KK and the Dr's have opened up on this Cancer! So, I'll update again as soon as we hear the results and have the plan, fingers crossed for tomorrow!! Keep Kickin' it KK!! and All you dedicated readers keep the positivity and prayers flowing!!
Until next update,
Uncle Mike
P.S. Today is Richard's Birthday too BTW!! Happy Birthday Richie!!

Update 8/22/08
Hello loyal readers, KK had his PET scan on Monday , but they haven't yet gotten the results yet. They are going ahead with the biopsy on Monday and unfortunatley they suspect that it will cause some bleeding in his lung and will most likely have to move him to the ICU after the procedure, but it is a nessecary procedure in order to see for sure if the tumors are dead from the inside. keep KK andn the family in your thoughts and prayers. I'll post another update on Monday evening with an update on how KK is doing. There are some new pictures in the Gallery of last weekends camping trip to Camano Island State park, it was so nice that we're going back this weekend!
Talk to you all again on Monday!

Post Scan Update 8/11/08
Hi All! As promised here's the update for after the scans today. The results are the same as his last set of scans. KK is clear of all tumors with the excpetion of the tumors in his lungs. They haven't changed in size at all either way. The Dr's think that they died from the inside out and they are taking that info to the tumor board tomorrow to review the case. After the meeting of the board tomorrow they will decide when to do the biopsy to find out if that is for sure true and what the next steps are. They have put his next chemo treatment on hold until they know more. Keep your positive thoughts working for KK and his family!!!! I'll update again tomorrow with the news that we KNOW and BELIEVE will be good!!

Update 8/4/08
Hi All, I hope you're having a wonderful summer so far! KK's doing pretty good, physically doing well. This past weekend was rough emotionally as the memorial for Erin, KK's Grandpa (Alanna's Dad) was this weekend. But as far as KK's treatments, round 6 is complete! They go in for scans on the 11th, then regardless of the outcome of those scans, he gets 2 more rounds of Chemo. He's down in Vancouver, WA enjoying time with Gramma Lola who is an amazing woman. I'll give a better update after the scans on the 11th.
Thanks for checking in!

Over the river and through the woods to Michele’s house we go!! Update, and the Eagerly Awaited INTERVIEW with KK!!
So we made the trek to Michele’s house and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! Picture a drive down a single lane gravel road through the woods about 2 miles, as you bump down the road you’re wondering if you’re going the right way and out of nowhere pops a fluorescent PINK sign that says this way to Kick it for KK!! So you keep on driving down the road and all the sudden it opens up to a gorgeous pasture with a fenced pond in the middle full of tadpoles with clover surrounding it. There’s a perfectly manicured, circular driveway with a beautifully landscaped center piece. So we parked and went up to the amazing home and around the back, where the pool and hot tub sit next to the gazebo(s) and the huge deck, surrounded and nicely shaded by cozy forest creating the perfect combination of sun and shade and friendly folk!
They had lots of tables and chairs set up thanks to Big Country Jeff, Adam and Brett! The weather was perfect, the location was amazingly beautiful and the people, I don’t think there are words to express how warm, generous and fun everyone was! The party got fully underway around 4PM. The tables and chair rentals were donated by Hertz rentals. I think they had seating for around 200, we ended up with about 40 people altogether, just right as far as everyone there was concerned! Any number was just right as it was an awesome time and any of you that missed it, missed out on a fabulous time, some incredible food and fabulous entertainment.
So for the goodies….. let’s see there was an fabulous “gravy” that you ladled onto heaping mounds of spaghetti made by Auntie “Spumoni” Marcy, Adam made a perfect Linguine in Cream sauce and an Italian pasta salad that was to die for! Everyone got more then full, they got Italian full!! There was more bread, salad and wings then even I could eat!
The main festivities started off with people looking at, and signing up for the silent auction items, then the 50/50 raffle which was won by Uncle Robert so he could then turn around and spend it all on the live auction!!! Then the silent auction closed for bids.
There were some incredible items I must say. Pam Allen (Adam and Michele’s Sister) Because we know better then her telling us she was their Mom.. she was much too young to really be their Mom, donated some of her custom flower and collage art collection, these were amazingly created by this very talented lady, each piece completely custom made and priceless! Also in the silent auction were lots of bath goodies, and a custom coloring donated by Auntie Ya YA!
Then we moved on to the “Live auction” with the Auctioneer team of Adam and Vicki Allen. 10 dollar , 10 dollar do I hear 15, 15 howbouta 12.50 I have a bid of 15 dollars do I hear 20 …15 going once twice SOLD to Robert for 15 dollars ( or more) was the sound heard most often! It was very competitive on several of the donated items! I’ll get back to that in a minute.....
but I wanted to break here and thank just some of the donors for the auctions:
Shelly Landreth, Pam Allen, Adam and Viki Allen, Big Country Jeff donated a ton of autographed sports memorabilia, Michele and Brett Cree , My Cousin Niki From Kansas donated 50$ worth of Partylite, My lovely Fiancée donated some Starbucks goodies, The Buzz Inn Steak house donated a $50 gift Certificate and there were some other donation’s but I’m not sure where they came from, my apologies but Thank you all!!!
So, Back to the bidding… there were several “contentious” items that really got the crowd going and kept Adam pretty busy with keeping track of the bidding.. some of these items were:
A Jay Buhner signed hard hat from when Safeco Field was being constructed!
A steamer?? I think it steams clothes or carpets or something.. no clue actually but all the ladies wanted it and it nearly became violent LOL!
There was also a phantom bidding instigator in the crowd, this guy paid attention to things that were the “hot” items and I ..oops I mean he , yeah “he” that’s the ticket… did some “competitive” bids to get some prices a bit higher ;-) The auction was a ton of fun and quite a success!!
The Next event of the evening was actually 2 events... the All Star Poker Tourney and KK riding the Quad!! Both were exciting in their own ways. The quad ride was a blast for KK and Michele, and fun for everyone else to watch and the ALL STAR POKER TOURNEY was a blast as well. The final table ended at about 11PM with the Champion being Adam Allen, they kept it in the family with 2nd place being Vicki Allen. I was lucky enough to place 3rd, 4th was Big Country Jeff, 5th Was Uncle Robert and 6th taken out by me and I felt terrible about it…was Richard. Congratulations to Adam and all the final table crowd (wink wink).
While the Poker players had cards and chips flying, the "Band room" was ROCKIN'! with an insanely awesome layout of about a 62” projected game of ROCK BAND with an actual (game style) drum set, Bass, Guitar and Microphone, surround sound and stage lighting (for real!!) the rest of the party goers were rockin’ out and competing in a battle of the bands. Michele had the microphone for most of the songs, and she really rocked it… Auntie Spumoni was literally boo’d off stage by the game for her singing…and Auntie Christy Rocked it on the Bass and got a 96% score w00t, you go Girlfriend!! You all already know that KK ROCKED IT OUT on the guitar, he’s a true pro at it and I doubt he had less then a 95% for every song and he was playin’ in “HARD” mode WOW. Brett also offered to teach KK how to play a real guitar and he may get taken up on that! So all in all the party was a huge success, raising over $1500 for the family and just a general blast! A night full of family fun times. Again we want to thank everyone that attended and our gracious hosts and all the helpers!! Thanks so much, let’s do it again soon! Check out the Party pictures in the Gallery!
So now I’ll give you all a quick update on KK he’s still feelin’ pretty good though he’s still coping with the loss of his Grandpa, the party was a nice boost to his spirits. He’s going on round 6 of his Chemo this week and will get more scans after round 8.

'Cause I gotta have faith-ah- faith-ah FAITH!! ahhh..
Well I guess it would be nice... if I could type somebody.. I know not everybody has got a 'puter like you... but I gotta think twice, before I type my hands away...
So the long awaited post about the George Michael Concert!!! OK so for those that don't know, Richard is a George Michael Fan, did I say fan, well you know fan is short for FANATIC .. that's defined by old Webster as:
fa·nat·ic Pronunciation[fuh-nat-ik]
–noun 1. a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics.
Synonyms of FANATIC are: crazy, devotee, extremist, fiend, maniac, radical, ultra, visionary, zealot .....
So he's not just a "fan"!!! And because Richie is a FANATIC, everyone that "hangs" with him or is related to him is required to be a fan as well.
Richie knows every word to every song, and every version of every song, including all the duets, the sound track only releases etc..you get the point, Richie LOVES George Michael and so by association so do all of "us". Including KK so since this is KK's blog, I talked to KK about the concert and what he thought of it. He said it was very cool and real fun. KK's favorite part about the concert was seeing how his Dad reacted, KK liked seeing his Dad happy and thought it was funny how Richie reacted to Georgie boy, he said the at first Richard sat down at first but when George came out he leaped of his seat!
So it seems that the concert was a great thing, that's KK take on it. I also talked to Uncle D who went and I asked him to give me a "report" on the concert so I could write this blog entry and guess what Uncle D sent me.... well he sent me the 4 pictures that you can see in the Gallery, and he sent me a picture mail to my phone the night of the show, but you are all wanting to know what was in his report right? Wellll, I wouildn't be Uncle Mike If there wasn't some suspense and excitment inthe blog right??? Right, so I'm going to save Uncle D's report on the show until the end, 'cause it's soooo good it's gotta wait, Saving the best for last, perhaps....
KK's favorite song from the concert was Freedom, it was the 1st Encore performance and they all loved it. He also wanted everyone to know that no matter what you may hear, his Dad did NOT cry ! I tried to get Richard's favorite part about the concert but he had a hard time verbalizing what was the best....I held the phone away from my ear for 10 mins (like you do when you talk to your Mom ya know?) just moving it back to your mouth to say "uh-huh" or "really?" "wow" "that's cool" and after about 10 mins about the concert... I reeled him back in and tried to get him to mention just his favorite part... he couldn't'.. It was "everything", he loved it all, but mostly he loved spending that time with his family together :-) Glad you had fun Richie!
While I had KK on the phone I got a live update from him on how he's doing and to quote him or maybe that was Tony the Tiger... "I feel GRRRRRRREAT!" he was feeling pretty poorly last week and through the weekend. Hehad Chemo Yesterday but is feeling really good today , no pain in his leg or anything! So a good day!!
The Little's did lose Alanna's Dad this weekend though, sadly he succumbed to his cancer and passed on Sunday. He had been through many rounds of Chemo and radiation and had suffered quite a lot. He was under hospice care and with his wife, Alanna's Mom, Lola when he passed peacefully. Alanna is down in Vancouver with her Mom and Richard and KK are home. We all send our love and hugs to Alanna, Lola and everyone in their family. Erin was an amazing man, I only got to meet him a few times, the most memorable for me was at Children's when KK had his first surgery and He and I sat and talked for a couple of hours, I was thrilled to hear about his Life, he truly had an amazing life from start to finish and from what I know of him, he had no regrets and was extremely proud of all of his kids for all they have accomplished. He will be missed and remembered fondly for all of his wonderful actions. You may see a write up on his life here.
On a brighter note, there is a PARTY this weekend!! A fundraiser Poker tournament and auction, check out the events page and please SHOW UP so KK can woop ya in Poker... I'm not sure what all will be auctioned off, but I do know there will be some cool Starbucks items ( not sonics gear) as part of the auction or raffle! So haul your whole family on down to Lake Stevens for the PAAAARRTTTTAY!! Looks like the weather will be gorgeous too so no excuses, as the God Father would say... Dooooo ittt!
OK that's all for now ! Keep the Faith and KK, Keep Kickin' it hoss!!
Oh wait I almost forgot, Your all wanting Uncle D's Report on the Concert.. here ya go and I quote:
"We came. We saw. We left. Richard cried."
Thanks for the report Uncle D, that was awesome and well worth the wait!!
...bk
See you ALL S-A-TUR-DAY SATURDAY!! Saturday night's the night I like.. Saturday night's alright alright alright!!
Next Update Sometime soon after the Party.. you can expect to see an "interview" with KK in the next update! I've compiled a rather serious (honest) list of questions to talk with KK about and gotten his permission to "interview" him so that and an update on how much I won in the Poker game coming soon!!!

Thank you Rebecca and Matt for the fabulous update, now I know you are all waiting for an update on KK as well so here with that update, please Welcome his adorable and funny Mother, Alanna Little: (The Crowd goes WILD!!!)
KK went in for his overnight chemo on Monday. we moved the day so that he would be feeling good cuz we are going to see George Michael tonight. Yeah....Richie is soooo excited. KK is doing good today, his spirits were down on Monday and they
had a rough start trying to access his port. Jeffrey showed up at the hospital and
they had lunch, KK's favorite pizza paggliacci. His BP was pretty high and they
monitored it closely, it finally came down without any meds. High BP is due to one
of the chemos he gets. He had a hearing test last week that showed his high pitch
range of hearing has been slightly affected from the chemo. the docs said they had
expected that and he doesn't need a hearing aid. Its a part of the hearing range that we don't use in regular conversation. He was a little upset but Auntie Marcy, who took him to the appt. was able to talk to him and give him a big mamma hug since I wasn't there. His red blood count was a little bit lower than normal going into last week but of course, like a champ he was able to bring it up.
(The crowd again goes WILD cheers and applause for KK!!!)
(encore, encore, bravo bravo for KK)

So the Little's and extended family and a few friends of KK's and TT's arrived at the track at around 5:30PM they got in their pre-race-junk food fix, you know the typical corn dogs, hot dogs, greasy onion burgers, cotton candy etc.. you get the point, good ol' fair kinda food mmmm mmm mmmm gets you fueled up for the long haul...ok so they headed up to find some choice seats just above the start/finish line,it's a picture perfect day as you'll see in the pictures in the Gallery Sun is shining, it's mid 70's, some puffy clouds,a rainbow, the American flag, my Son and good friends, a race track with cars turning some practice laps and qualifying going on, my personal version of heaven on earth, all that was missing for me was Auntie Christy (awwwwww you know you ladies said awwwww right there....but it's true) ok back on "track"... ugh oh the puns are starting to flow, but they are so easy with racing they just come outta no where.. so we've established that it was a gorgeous
Saturday evening KK and family got to meet Amy Chavez, the Nascar Mom who helped coordinate this exhilarating event!! (it was her idea, sent in to idea@keltonlittle.com THANKS AMY!!)So Qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen All American Super Stock's got underway and wrapped up fairly quickly setting the tone for the night: fast, loud, exciting but safe! With the field set for the heat races
they brought several cars from each series up to the the start finish line so fans could go down and meet the stars, get some autographs and see the racing machines up close and personal. The NASCAR Whelen All American Mini Stocks was the division that really put the pedal to the metal for KK, they all signed a helmet for KK and presented him with a HUGE trophy and lots of "goodies"! KK got to sit in the red 01 Car of Mark Weedin and was thrilled! When KK was asked by Reporter Scott Whitmore of the Everett Herald who he thought would win, he replied Hands down, the Red 01! Scott was sceptical but KK was firm and said there was no doubt about it...well we'll see if his prediction came true around turn 4 later..this is still the pre-race show after all, I haven't heard a boogity, boogity, boogity yet have you??
Ok so they clear the track of all the eager fans , the pace car pulls out onto the front stretch, predictions are duly noted, someone ( I wish I could plug her but I don't know her name) beautifully sang our National anthem it's time to go racin'!!!! but wait... Richard, Alanna and KK step out onto the track and what?? they are getting INTO the Pace car!! WOO HOOO so they get buckled in, and man they got a bugs eye view of the whole track! They did a couple laps in the pace car and then pulled to the infield. So I got the honor of being on the flag stand to take some pictures and video of KK in the pace car (again see the Gallery) NOW Pull those belts down tight and now you can all say it... together .. 3...2....1...BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOOGITY LET"S GO RACIN' FOLKS!! So here's where I'm probably supposed to get down from the flag stand and go sit and watch the races with the rest of the fans..well you all really don't know how big a race nut I am.... so I stayed up there until they had to ask me to get down, ( It was about 30 mins or so of good racing from the best vantage point in the place ha!!) Ok so after a couple warm up the ole tire laps, the cars line up 2 by 2 for the first heat race of the night, the green flag drops on the official racing for the evening and boy was it exciting! 10 Lap heat races for the Super Stocks, 8 lap heats for the mini stocks, Bombers and figure eights..then on to the main events! All of the racing was exciting but I know you are all wondering if KK's prediction came true well the Mini Stock Main started out a little hairy for the Red 01 but you guessed it by the end of the event Mark Weedin had really gotten up on the wheel and drove it home in 1st place for Kelton. During his post race interview he called Kelton up onto the podium with him and presented KK with his Trophy for the hard won race. You can read more about that in the Herald article and also here on the Mini-stock blog page definitely check them both out they are very cool write-ups on the event!! We all sat and watched the rest of the races and enjoyed the company, corn dog burps and all, as always it's fun to watch everyone's reactions to the near misses in the figure eights the DOH!s and OH's!! and jumping out of yours seats yellin' oh man how did they not wreck?? Were a blast! And man I tell ya....No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'! It was all that! Look for a "racey" video of the evening coming to the gallery soon! Special thanks for the event go out to Amy Chavez, Steve Kelley, Steve Green #10, Mark Weedin #01, Mikey Fritz #2,Dale Creager #21, Rod Helmuth #05, Nat Barber #97 and Terry Buell from the track who made the pace car ride happen! And all of Evergreen Speedway and the Mini-Stock Division!!! It was all over the top..oh wait wrong movie... it was a Day of Thunder!!
Ok so the moment you've all been racing through that portion to get to... the update on how KK is doing and how his Scans went today.... Well the news continues to be positive!! All the tumors with the exception of the ones in his lungs are still completely gone! There are also no new tumors. The tumors in his lungs are still the same size, but the Dr's think it's possible that they are dying form the inside out and may not shrink with the Chemo. They may do a biopsy in the future to see if that is the case or not, but for now it's "stay the course". The spot in his leg seems to be leftover radiation and the area affected has decreased considerably since their last scan which is great news, though it's still his main pain point! So the plan now is a total of 8 rounds of chemo treatments, they start round 5 next week and will decide to biopsy or not to biopsy between round 6 and 7. SO please keep the love and support flowing! pass on the website to friends and family to keep this momentum up and have them (and you) sign the guestbook! This weekend should be exciting too..it's the big ( or should I say "Little" motorcycle ride up Stevens Pass!! Be sure to tell all your Biker Buddies about it and check out the ride page!!
Ok so we're coming around turn four for this update and the winner, he's lapped the whole field is Kelton "KK", "Cole Trickle" Little taking the Checkers and the crowd goes wild, fireworks are flying and I can't wait to hear his victory lane speech once he wins the whole championship and takes the Victory Cup out of the hands of Cancer!!!! Keep Kickin' it KK! But do me a favor won't ya? While we're under caution between races, I want you to go back out on that track and hit the pace car..... ;-)
Until Next time
Uncle Mikey will be hangin' out on Pit road eatin' Ice cream :-P
Oh and Mr. Denton, the Lightning Thief is a good book I hear, my son loved it and I just got him the most recent one in the series (book 4 I think) so be ready for more then just one book A little rebellious pre-teen boy meets greek mythology, I think I'm going to read the series myself :-)

To THE ENTIRE HORIZON STAFF-
Well it is that time of year, the end of another grade and a time to relax. We have to take this moment as a family to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you. This year is different for us since we won’t be returning to our safe haven next year. We want to start with saying that the support that all of you have given us as a family but mostly to Kelton this year has been something that we will remember forever.
From the first moment of sending Kelton off to kindergarten and being scared to leave him alone for the day, to walking in the Halloween parade and doing the YMCA, field trips, classroom parties, assemblies, hearing Kelton tell me how awesome his teachers are(especially outside of class and finding out about all the tattoos) fundraisers, getting to know parents, recess, what he had for lunch, class projects, the hockey game, camp, to watching him on HOWL TV and so much more we have been so appreciative of the staff of this elementary school. I think that we are all in agreement that Kelton is a remarkable child, and I have to admit that as his parent’s cannot take ALL the credit for it. As the staff of an elementary school not only do you establish education in our children but you help to mold them into the people they will one day become. You give the base and you give them the stars. Over and over again throughout Kelton’s life people have complimented us how what a wonderful child we have raised. Richard and I often don’t know what to say because we just feel that that is the person he is. All of us are equally responsible in molding him into a caring strong person. Not just him but all of the children that each and every one of you have the honor to come in contact with. We wish that we could thank you each personally.
I have to admit that I am both happy and very sad (possibly a little scared) that this year is coming to an end. I am sure that all of you feel that every year. We as family have an unknowing road in front of us and some serious hurdles to jump ahead. The one thing that I do know is that we will never have the support that all of you have given us in any other school. Thank you is just never enough. I wish that each of could feel the appreciation that we have in our hearts for all that you have given to contribute to the growth of Kelton.
I can tell you only this…..I tell Kelton that he is my favorite song. You know that feeling when you hear your favorite song? It doesn’t matter where you are, at the grocery store or in your car. It makes you smile it makes you want to dance. You feel like you are young and can do anything, your emotions soar and you are on top of the world. You sing every word and know every beat. That is Kelton to me. He brings that joy to me every day and I just want to thank you for helping us write the lyrics and discover the beat.
We will continue to fight our battle because for us there is no other option. Thank you all and my god bless you and continue to allow you to give the gift of molding a phenomenal individual both in education and in spirit as you blessed us with.
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT…….GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!

Uncle Mike's a slacker.....Quiz time and Update...
Yes I hear you and you're absolutely right :-( I've not done the best job at keeping you dedicated readers updated on how things are going...just make sure not to crack my knuckles too hard though or when I do type the updates I'll have to do it with my nose and then the tyupoingh woiudlk loioik kindsa liekw thjis which I'm sure you don't want... any hooo... back to the topic at hand, you are here, reading this blog update interested in getting a status or update on Master Kelton Little, also known as KK, also known as one of the Stars of HOWL TV. I'll need to check your credentials before we go any further with this update though as it seems there are paparazzi everywhere these days, and I need to be sure that you're cleared by Princess Alanna prior to gaining access to this update... ok so quiz time so we can verify you are who you think you are..
Question 1. What is the name of Ron and Don from 710KIRO's producers name?
Question 2. Who is the Next President of the United States?
Question 4. What happened to question #3?
Question 5. At the Kids for Kelton Kar wash and Krispy Kreme Sale, Which Parent had the Whistle?
Question 6. What is The Famous Kelton Little's Favorite Color?
Question 7. Why does everyone look up when someone yells "duck"?
Question 8. are you about ready for the update yet??
Question 9. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
And the final Question... If KK was an animal which one would he be?
Ok so if you got them all correct , you knew that the very cool Katie was one, and shame on you if you said Obama ok or McCain for number 2... there is still a vote to be held in November and that's a ways off and but be sure to vote as long as you're republican...hee hee it's good to be the Blog master :-P ...and the answer to question 4? You guessed it, question 3 crossed the road with that darn proverbial chicken, and for 5 you knew it was Dan so you're very close to getting the update! Especially if you knew Pink was 6 and 7 is obviously the same reason that we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway.... and 8 well sorry but we're getting there, you see it's been awhile since I've had the time to write so you can skip to the "UPDATE" section below if you've grown weary of my silliness....but you know you really are curious about the final answer so for number 9 (number nine, number nine)you know that a woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood. Ok so you've passed the test up until this point so you must be legit and not the paparazzi so you may continue reading......
UPDATE
Question 10 has a lot to do with KK's update you see, because you could pick just about any of the incredible characteristics of all the animals out there and say that KK is like them in some way or another. He has the brave heart of a Lion, the gentleness of a lamb, the Majesty of an Eagle, the strength of an Ant (Don't worry he's not "buggin" ants really are strong).. so pick your animal, find it's greatest feature and find a way to apply that to KK and drop note in the Guestbook to tell us what you think :-) it'll be a fun game, but keep it positive!! I've started so you continue it and pass it on!
KK's doing pretty good of course hes positive as always and brave and strong!! He went in today for bloodwork and to visit with the Dr. He still has quite a bit of pain in his leg, they are going to see how he's doing after tomorrow's overnight Chemo and if he's still in a lot of pain they will do a bone scan to try to determine what's causing the pain. Two weeks from today is their next scheduled set of everything scans/tests to see where they are with progress, they are going to be looking hard at the cancer in his lungs and if they haven't shrunk any, they may do a biopsy to see if the cancer is dying from the inside out which they believe is a possibility. But it is a waiting period and really we all just hope and pray that their next scans show the cancer much smaller if not gone all together! So you have two weeks people, get some prayers and thoughts and positive wishes into the guestbook and lets get some momentum back for these next couple of weeks, remind your friends and neighbors and church groups and boy and girl scout troops, your baseball teams, your chess clubs and Oprah book of the month club members .. your Kiwanis and Lions clubs, your Rotary and Lions your grandmother that has a PC (ok or a eeew MAC), your Army buddies that have big hearts, your coworkers and class mates, cousins and kinfolk even a critter or two (Jess, I'm talkin' to you!bkd) and have them stop by the guestbook even if they've done it before and drop a note to KK who's hurting right now, he needs all of our strength!
OK so some other updates, I got confirmation that the big "shin-dig" is happenin' on July 12th so there WILL be another update soon with some info on that :-)
OK so I know that I really have to get the pictures of the Kwilt up and shame on me for not getting that done! There's just so many pictures that I have from camping that I need to go through I do apologize, remember easy on the knuckles... I promise, promise, promise to get those pictures gone through and get some pictures up very soon, if you'll promise to passs the word some more and get some new entries in the guestbook!!!!
Next update, with pictures very very soon :-)

Yo! All campers - Tumwater campground in Leavenworth rules! The campers started arriving on Thursday and at the peak of the outing, for our "family", we had over 25 people in our camp! The weather was perfect, not to hot and not to cold (with the help of the campfire and some beverages in the evening) just a tiny bit of rain Saturday night to knock down the dust.
Janie Casey and her lovely Mother Irene showed up on Friday to deliver the awesome Kwilt! Thank you to everyone who sent in a square! And special extra hugs and thanks to Janie and Irene!!! Be sure to support them and their annual Grinde Memorial Golf Tournament on July 26th in East Wenatchee!!!! The proceeds all go to the American Cancer Society to fight for a cure!!!
KK was napping when Janie and Irene showed up but Alanna got him up and he absolutely loved the Kwilt! He slept with it all weekend and I'm betting he keeps it near him for many years to come! We all took a trip into Leavenworth on Saturday, did the obligatory Brat's, Schnitzels and my Licorice Ice cream some shopping and generally enjoyed the day together. The highlight of Saturday was the Old Western group Pictures we took, be sure to check them out in the Gallery in the next couple days and see if you can pick out crazy Uncle(?)D!! It's kinda like where's Waldo only slightly different... You'll see... he was reticent but it was a RIOT and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! KK felt pretty good most of the weekend and mostly just hung out and enjoyed the sounds of the river, the beautiful views and the comfort of having 3 generations of Little's along with multiple extended family all within snoring range ... did I mention that the nights were like an orchestrated event of grizzly bears arguing with thunder set to te background of other bodily functions..Lions, tigers and bears oh may had nothing on this group!??! Oh and the food all weekend was wonderful, KK's Gramma and Grandpa, 2great Aunts and and Great uncle were all with us from Thailand and mmmm mmm mmm is all I can say for the good eatin'!!! When will the pad thai be ready was a frequent phrase :-) Along with "mama how much was that bag?" ( sorry inside joke but it's pretty funny, but yeah, you had to be there)
KK got a slight reprieve from Chemo to be able to attend his school camp a week or so ago, so he's feelin' pretty good and hasn't had to take any pain pills or nausea meds for a few days now Yipppeeee!!! He gets back on his normal schedule of Chemo next week Tuesday and Wednesday so be sure to drop notes in the guestbook to keep him pumped up!!
Upcoming events: We have the Motorcycle ride on the 28th, be sure to check out the Little Ride Page!! We're probably going to be camping up at Leavenworth again that weekend if KK's feelin' up to it.
And there's talk of a July 12th HUGE bash with poker, live music, an awesome auction and lots of other fund raising events!! More details on that to come soon!!
And possibly a collection jar at the am/pm on the corner of Harbour Pointe Blvd., and the speedway more to come on that too!!
Keep up the guestbook entries, bug your friends and neighbors to drop a note in there!! We're a long way from being done, I know that I've not updated the blog as often as I should so Let's make a deal ... I'll do better if you'll post more often in the guestbook ;-) More to come soon and look for some really good, and some pretty hilarious pictures(some even think supernatural) in the gallery in the next day or two!!!
Until next time,

Update 5/27/08
Update
KK Had a great time at camp I hear, even though it rained on them. He had Chemo on that Thursday the 22nd and it also went well. He was a bit tired and nauseous, but to be expected, he got to go home earlier then normal on Friday! He got quite a bit of rest this weekend and is feeling ok. They did get some bad news though, Not sure that you all know but at the same time that all of this is happening with KK, his grandfather, Alanna’s Dad, also has lung cancer and has been going through Chemo and radiation and has taken a turn for the worse. He’s contracted pneumonia and they have stopped the Chemo treatments and started hospice care. Alanna headed down to Vancouver, WA to be with her Mom and Dad during this rough time. It’s amazing how strong this family is and the challenges they face and continue to overcome with positivity. We’re all thinking of you Little’s and sending you positive thoughts and prayers!!
On a brighter note.. Uncle D, my son Easton and I all went over to Mansfield, WA for our annual FIRE IN THE SKY (FITS) rocket launch. “KK’s Prayer” launched and probably got to about 7000’!!! we’ll never know as it was GONE!!!!!! Uncle D and I walked about 2 miles to find it laying in the middle of a wheat field, in pretty good condition!! We woudl ahve much longer and farther if Uncle D hadn't convinced me to trust his tracking device!!! DOH! Well, it was a successful launch, Message was definitely delivered! You can expect to see video of the launch in the gallery in the not too distant future. KK Has another Chemo treatment this week Thursday and then our annual camping trip this weekend, we did modify the location to the Tumwater Campground in Leavenworth so we’d be relatively close to services if needed. We are hoping to meet Janie Casey there who will be delivering “KK’s Kancer Kickin’ Kwilt” and we’ll get a chance to thank her, we’re all very excited for that!
Now then, so, what, I go out of town for a weekend and you all just stop posting in the guestbook?? Yo, don’t make me step into a slim jim and get all WWE on y’all.. now get back on track and keep the energy coming for KK, and an extra boost for the whole family or I’ll have to open up a can of you know what!!!! LOL seriously, let’s not let the momentum that we gained with the Kar wash slip, we all saw that the positive power is working, along with KK’s positive attitude we’re gaining traction and opened that can on the Cancer so please keep up the support, we need you!
Did everyone check out the Motorcycle ride page?? Pretty cool eh? That’s going to be another very cool event and we hope to see any of you that have a 2 or 3 wheeled vehicle riding up to Leavenworth on the 28th of June!!!
Next update will be after the Camping trip this weekend

Beep..Beep..Beep... UPDATE!! UPDATE!! KK is beating the cancer!
Hello everyone, it's Uncle D here. And yes, it's my turn to post an update. And I'm SOOOOO excited about this one.
As Uncle Mike told you in the last blog, Kelton went in today and had a full set of scans done on his entire body. After that they met with the Dr. to get the results..... (drum roll in the background)...THINGS LOOK GREAT!
Kidneys - The spots that were seen on the kidneys are gone!
Femur Bone - That looks good too. The doctors think there may be some water trapped in that area which is causing KK some discomfort but it's likely a side effect of the radiation.
Lungs - The tumors are still around, however they are not any larger. So KK (and a little help from the chemo) has managed to stop the cancer in its tracks!!!!
And the rest of his body is cancer free too. Nothing new found.
This, as you can imagine, is a great relief to KK and his family. So much so that rumor has it that KK and his doctor may have shared a tear or two after the good news.
So, what's next????? Well KK gets to postpone his Tuesdays Chemo treatment till this Thursday. This is going to allow him to go to camp with this 5th grade class. And I know he is super happy about that.
KK you keep fighting like a champ. You keep up your positive attitude!!!!
For now, this is Uncle D signing off. Until next time.
P.S.
I would like to personally thank everyone that helped out with the KK Kar Wash. From the Ron&Don guys to the kids that stood at the curb and washed car after car after car. This was truly one of the most amazing events I have ever been involved with.

Algebra? Nope it's that funky New Math!!
Ok students, most all of you have been exposed to algebra by now so here's a relatively simple equation for you to figure out,it's all relative according to Einstein right?:
K8+710+AT&F=?
What? You're stumped? OK class, I'll even give you a hint, you can't calculate it without:
PsP+C(3-6L)
Ok I hear ya... it's just too odd, and you're starting to want to get even so I'll give you the answer!
the answer is C+L+S/Ca
Ok I'll give you some time to figure that all out now.....Jeopardy music is running out.........ok now that you're all whistling or humming that one DING times up ...too cryptic, you say? Well it completely sums up (oh that's a good pun and you know it, quit groaning) Friday and Saturday!!! Alrighty then, I'll give you each of the variables:
K = Kids for Kelton Kar wash & Krispy Kreme sale & Kelton Kewl Kutz
710 = 710KIRO
(y'all got those two I'm thinking)
AT&F = AWESOME TEACHERS AND FAMILIES!!!
and the parts needed to solve it:
PsP = Proud, Supportive parents
C = Citizens
3-6l - That would be the 3-6 listeners of the Ron and Don Show!
ok now did you get the answer of C+L+S/Ca sorted out? Oh good!! Glad to hear that you understood, that:
Community + Love + Support Is (reigning)OVER Cancer!!!
Ok whew, must be that "new" math , well whatever it is boy does it ever work!!!! Bottom line, the Kids for Kelton Kar wash and Krispy Kreme Sale and Kelton Kewl Kutz went AWESOME!!! Though it definitely didn't help with our spelling.
As I've said before there are so many people to thank that it's difficult to fathom but I'll try to capture some here:
1st and foremost - ALL OF YOU KEWL KIDS AT HORIZON!! This was your idea and you worked your tails off both days, you focused on the task (most of the time ;-) and went well above and beyond and showed great maturity in pulling this event off. Abbie you're a thoughtful and brave girl and you're parents are so very proud of you. That's obvious with how much they supported and participated in the idea!! Laurie and Dan, For all of your dedication and effort to make a difference , Thank you!! I don't think anyone worked harder then you two at the Kar wash, it was amazing to see and hear, thanks for the whistle Dan, great idea!
Kids, you did a gallant thing for your classmate Kelton and his family, be proud of yourselves, this is an event all of us will never forget and it's something for you to always look to, for strenght of your own, to know that you can make a difference!! By going out of your way and donating your time and efforts each of you affected positively the lives of more then just Kelton and his family but all the people who listen to Ron and Don and everyone else that stopped by the Kar wash!! What do you young un's say these days? that was phat? is that good? No? Well as they said in my youth, that was one rad gig, like totally awesome!!
Teachers (yes I absolutely mean you too Mr. Denton!!, Parents and Adult volunteers, thank you for teaching the children of Horizon more then just the three r's (readin' ritein' and rithmatik). In the lessons leading up to Friday ad Saturdays events you taught them planning and marketing, you taught them about kindness and compassion, you guided them down the path and let them choose to embrace their fellow student. You also gave so much of your time and energy to the event itself thank you for all that you did and continue to do everyday for our communities!
Ron, Don, Katie, and all the staff that supported the event on Friday start your engines!! We feel like the tables were turned on Friday, you gave
US all 3!!! And we're so Grateful to you and the Rod-Father and Bonneville Seattle for all that you did to support this event!! The broadcast was so generous and help to reinforce the message that you can help others and support your communities!! You won quite a few new fans that will give YOU all 3 from now on!! Oh and Nola was a huge hit too!!
Harimasters of Everett! They donated Kelton Kewl Kutz and had quite a few takers! Notice all the freshly shaven heads in the gallery!!
Another huge hit was Steve Hartley. He drew amazing caricatures and donated the proceeds to the cause! What a great example he sets for the community!! Thanks Steve you made LOTS of people smile on many levels and we sure appreciate you! Everyone check our Steve's site http://www.muggshotz.net/ !!!
Every single person that got your Kar washed, or bought a Krisy Kreme, while you didn't do your waistline any favors(yeah like I'm one to talk there it's Sunday and I'm still eatin' Krispy Kremes!) , you helped us more then you will ever know and you are keeping your dentist employed as well :-) The turnout was phenomenal and we're so thankful that you all rewarded the students of Horizon by supporting them in this effort, without each of you this lesson and the actions that these kids took would have been tragic. But we knew that wasn't gong to happen!! And you're car didn't turn out like Ron and Don suspected:-) They were all glistening when they pulled out, we definitely don't guarantee what they look like dry though!!
Thank you!!!
For those that weren't there, won't you give KK, and 710 KIRO's the Ron and Don show all three (that's when you listen to all 3 hours) from Friday by listening on their site the past show from Friday!!
Well the next HUGE day is tomorrow in this epic battle and the Math is good, KK's numbers are positive going into the big tests tomorrow. He gets his 1st scans after this round of Chemo and radiation (he can't wait to get his Chemo Sux Shirt from Ron)and we know that all of the thoughts and prayers and the family's strength and how bravely and positively they've faced this is going to pay off tomorrow!! Everyone please think and pray and send your positive vibes to Everett tonight and tomorrow get those integers up a fraction and multiply the values of the positives and help subtract the cancer and have it turn into a double negative... oops that one is grammar not math... ok well you are all part of the equation now and we're very thankful to all of you!!! Keep the guestbook entries coming and there will be another update on Monday or Tuesday.
cosine'd on a tangent,
U/nC(l)e MiK=
P.S. ... after that Carwash I'm thinkin' we should pay some props (see I'm hip, yeah broken hip maybe, Randy Jackson and I were tight once... ) to those two wheelers out there.... hmmm a "Little" Ride maybe???? More on that tomorrow!!!!
U=MC is a square...

Thanks Steve Hartley!!

Kiddy Shock Jocks! Edmonds Beach Escapade! and an Update
Boy's and Girl's, Ladies and Germs, let me introduce you to the newest Radio personalities in Seattle ... no it's not Ron and Don from 710 KIRO it's the special guests they had on their show, Kelton's friend Abbie and her brother James! They went on live radio (710 KIRO) (Click to Listen to it here) and talked about Kelton and how his schoolmates are helping to support his family with the Kids for Kelton Kar wash and Krispi Kreme Sale! They got on the show by writing a letter to Ron and Don. So not only is Abbie now an accomplished author she's a humanitarian and a Seattle talk radio personality!! I gather she's pretty persuasive too as she got Ron and Don to come down and do a LIVE broadcast from the Kar Wash!! The folks at Horizon are so cool they even added a date to be able to have the show come to the Kar Wash on Friday!!!! I never cease to be awed by all of the friends, the generosity and the incredible things that all of YOU are doing for the Littles! We're turning this horrible disease that KK is kicking the Krud out of, into a family and friend, and community building event and I don't know about you but the lessons in strength, bravery, the true meaning of community and caring are wonderful lessons! So WAY TO GO Abbie and James for your commitment to care for your friend and Thank you KK for letting us all learn from you!
Now then, All of you long time readers out there, make sure that you get your cars, bikes, snowmobiles, jet ski's , horses, ok scratch the livestock... down to the Kar wash on Friday or Saturday and you're not just supporting the Littles, you're creating community and rewarding kids like Abbie and James who went the extra mile to help a friend!
Ok now the the Edmonds Beach Escapade!! It is May right?? Why then are we STILL dealing with weather in the 40s??? Ok that's just old man grumbling, do you think that a chill in the air bothered 5th graders on a field trip to the Beach?? Heck NO!!! they loaded up and cruised on down to Edmonds beach where believe it or not only 1 kid who shall remain nameless for this article) fell in and got totally soaked, that in itself is amazing! The kids were amazed with all the sea/tidal life and had a great time. KK's only issue was that they couldn't bring home a starfish :-(! Check out the pictures in the school and classmates section of the Gallery :-)
KK's still doing "swimmingly" well (no it wasn't him that fell in at Edmonds Beach) his numbers are still up and he's feeling ok most days. He was at school a couple days this week and hopes to be there even more next week. Don't forget to sign the guestbook and leave a word or two :-) Kant wait for the Kar Wash! I'm excited I get to go now!! Thanks Ron and Don and Horizon for adding the extra date!!!! Beware children of Horizon, I may just bring one of our Fire engines that needs a top to bottom washing!! (not really, probably just my dirty old Ford)
Next Update when something new comes up, or after the Kar Wash!
Signed,

Cinco de Mayo actualice y venta de artículos usados!!!
Oh you say that you no habla español....well I think it says 5th of May Update and Garage Sale ;-)
KK has had a tough go of it the past week not feeling well. But he was in better spirits this weekend and the numbers don't lie! At his appointment today all his numbers were up again! So feeling bad or not, he's fighting through it all! His next appointment is on Monday for more blood work then it's freeeeeeeeedom until the 19th when he goes back for his scans to see how well we know he did! Over this past weekend Uncle D and I were over in Eastern, WA launching rockets, a special one called "KK's Prayer" that was loaded with notes and prayers and if it's any indication the "messages" were received because it went exceptionally well. The rocket boosted through about 4000' arced over beautifully and made a perfect parachute recovery. You can see a very, very brief video of that launch in the gallery. That was it's inaugural flight so it was relatively small motor but in 3 weeks we're going to send it through about 8800 feet up, over a mile and a half high (and hopefully it will be painted)! So meanwhile, back at the ranch, the boys were playing with clippers or were they growing foreheads?? Well whattdoyaknow everyone ended up beautifully bald! Yep! Richard, KK, Robert, Grandpa Doug and Tyler all shaved their heads for the summer of solidarity ;-) There was also an event to support the Littles put on by Team America, inc please click the link and check out their website, they are an amazing organization that does wonderful things for families and causes. Their President is Lake Stevens own Ray Toler, who hosted the garage sale that raised some money to help the Littles during this difficult time. Though the sale got rained out on Saturday it did well on Sunday and we're so thankful to have friends like the Tolers and Team America! The quilt is being sewn as I type and thank you all that sent in your pieces!
Upcoming events: KK's hopefully going to get to go on his school field trip tomorrow to Edmonds beach with his classmates. And we have the Kids for Kelton Kar Wash and Krispy Kreme sale coming up on the 17th so be sure to get you cars nice and dirty so those great folks from Horizon can have some cars to wash, and bring your appetites!! I was so looking forward to going, but I have to be in Olympia that day to take a couple tests :-( but I'll dream of the Krispi Kremes and I can guarantee that my truck will still be dirty, maybe I can get a rain check?? I'm sure Auntie Christy will attend and maybe she can bring me home a Krispi Kreme or 22 ;-)
Next update will probably be after the blood work Appointment next Monday. Until then send your ideas for fund raisers or events to idea@keltonlittle.com and keep the guestbook entries flowing!
Kick it KK!! You Rock!

HOWL TV Stars get personal Tour of the KING 5 Studios & Chemo Update
At Horizon Elementary, Kelton is known by the whole school. Each month, staff and
students watch as Kelton co-hosts the school's news program, Horizon Today (we're
using the word news in the loosest sense here) on the school's closed circuit
television station, HOWL TV. Think The Today Show for elementary students.
On Sunday, Kelton and his co-hosts, Abbie and Michael visited KING 5 TV (along with
the three teachers who supervise HOWL TV) to take a behind the scenes look at the
production of a news broadcast. KING 5 anchor Allen Schauffler gave the three a
tour of the news studio, control room, satellite feed center and newsroom. He
explained how the different pieces work together and introduced the students to the
producer, director, reporters and other crew members responsible for putting the
broadcast together.
The students then watched the first half of the news broadcast from the control room
and watched the second half right on the set. All three students looked like they
belonged behind the news desk as they sat on the set. They even got to help Allen
film an on-air promo spot. Okay, truth be told, Allen helped Kelton and his friends
film a promo spot for HOWL TV, but they did an awesome job and could certainly fit
right in with the KING news staff.
Throughout the trip, the trio shot lots of video footage with the school's new Flip
video cameras. The cameras kept rolling as the group, joined by Kelton's and
Abbie's moms, headed out for pizza and lots more laughter and fun.

UPDATE
3rd Round of Chemo went well, as expected! All of Kelton's "numbers" were up and Dr's were of course impressed with how well he is doing with the Chemo! He is now losing his hair but that's to be expected and we love him hairy or bald :-) Radiation is almost over, only 2 more to go!! One more chemo treatment next week, then a short rest and in for the scans they go the following week to, hopefully, get some great news and re-evaluate the treatment regimen. Please, Please, Please Keep those guestbook notes coming and keep passing on the website to all your friends and family!!
DON'T FORGET THE HUGE GARAGE SALE THIS WEEKEND IN LAKE STEVENS AND THE DEADLINE FRIDAY TO SEND IN YOUR PIECES OF ANY MATERIAL! Don't Procrastinate, create your piece of the quilt today!!
KEEP KICKIN' IT KK YOU'RE DOING GREAT AND WE'RE ALL SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!

Aaaaah-tennn-Hut! Sergeant Major Little on Duty!!!
0600 hours - Civilian Kelton Little get’s up and gets ready to go to his Radiation treatment
0700 hours – Arrive at the UW
0715 hours - Depart UW for Auntie Christy and Uncle Mike’s house
0900 hours- Specialist (SPC) Joe Brown arrives and the day officially begins….
After a quick video call with Uncle D and some silly picture taking we left for Camp Murray and Ft Lewis, arriving on base at about 1000 hours at Bldg 15 of the Washington Army National Guard.
We were met by a huge group of Soldiers and Kelton was issued an official uniform and went to the latrine to change. A transformation occurred! Out of the restroom stepped “Colonel” Little. He looked very official and perhaps even a bit taller. We were then honored to attend the quarterly “birthday bash” that the unit has for members that have birthdays during that quarter. At the start of the party, Colonel (Legit Colonel) Johnson introduced Kelton and Family and gave a wonderful speech about bravery, courage and inspiration and how Kelton displays those traits and inspires others with his courage, needless to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Kelton was then officially mad an honorary member of the Guard and was also “promoted” to the rank of Sergeant Major! We had an awesome breakfast and many wonderful gifts, and then moved on to the main building on base. Where all the big wigs hang out. We civilians didn’t really know where we were headed; we got there and were escorted back to a nice office with plaques and awards all over the walls and a secretary outside.. Uh oh.. being a former military man, I knew this had to be something big…. Outside the door, the Sergeant Major that was escorting us and Specialist Brown taught Kelton how to properly do a hand salute, well the lesson paid off we stepped into the office of a full blown General!!! Brigadier General Gordon D. Toney who is the Commander of the Washington Army National Guard and Assistant Adjutant General-Army!! Kelton did his salute and it was returned by the General. Introductions were held and then the amazement began. All the adults in the room were already in “Shock and Awe” just in meeting the General , but then the General took Kelton over to a table in the office that had a remote control model helicopter on it with a landing pad. The General, who is a Master Aviator and has the wings on his uniform to prove it, sat down and flew the copter a few times and brought it in for a “bounce in” landing, impressive. Well he then turned the controls over to KK. Kelton did a minute of familiarization with the aircraft and then we was off, he flew it around like a skilled aviator. Well General Toney was so impressed that he took off his Master Aviator wings off of his own uniform and PRESENTED them to SGM Little on the spot! I think I nearly passed out! What an honor! General Toney then talked to Kelton about his bravery and courage and presented him with a command coin (click here for what these coins mean and the history about them) that basically “trumps” any other coin on that base!
We were then led to a conference room where we got to meet the Command Sergeant Major and other Officers and NCO’s of HQ. Where they also presented coins. It was here that SGM Little got to give his first orders of the day! He ordered a Staff Sergeant to Drop and give him 10 push-ups, it took some prompting but KK finally got the order out, he even managed an “I CAN”T HEAR YOU SERGEANT” between chuckles. Kelton was presented with some special posters signed by soldiers and other gifts.
1215 hours SGM Little travels to UTES and is surprised to see WELCOME SGM LITTLE on the sign outside the unit.
This is the Unit that maintains and repairs all the vehicles and radios for the National Guard and Army on Ft Lewis. A few very funny moments happened here…the first was the “patch” dance. Nearly everyone we met saw KK’s unit designator patch and wanted to swap it out, I can’t count the number of soldiers that took off their own patch, took off whichever was on Kelton’s sleeve at the moment place that on is KK’s pocket and place their unit patch on his sleeve. It was very touching and humorous. Though the 1st time it happened, it was very special as the Lady that gave Kelton his first patch at the PSB unit (the 1st place we stopped) took of her patch from the 10th Mountain division that she got from serving in Iraq and presented that to Kelton. Not only do these folks fight for our freedom and serve voluntarily, they also make other sacrifices like this for a young man fighting his own battle. There were so many small, but poignant and cherished moments like this throughout the day.
Back to UTES: We got a tour of the facility and met the (no lie) Government issued Kitty - Yes a live GI Cat, it’s supposed to catch mice.. but it doesn’t HA HA! These guys were great! They had a helmet stenciled with Kelton on it, and set him up on a radio net to demo some cool field radios and there were more then a few “niners” roger over and out’s thrown around! OK Outside NOW soldiers! Move it Move it Move it… KK was taken out in a “gator” to the parade ground where he got the grand tour of the new ASV (Armored Security Vehicle) Brand spankin’ new! Along with other vehicles they maintain like the “Tank Tow truck” holy moly that thing is a monster! Kelton even got to look like “Rambo” for a minute and hold an M4 with an M203 Grenade launcher!
At this point and probably 500 pictures later they started up a Bradley Infantry fighting vehicle and invited Kelton to take the ride of a lifetime! It was a very short fight to see if it was going to be Richard or Alanna that got to ride with…if you can’t guess who won that well wait until you’re married you’ll know.... so off they go into the wild blue yonder… oops wait that’s the Air Force… ok so off they go over hill and dale rolling along in this monstrous tracked vehicle, standing up in the turret with grins from ear to ear looking super cool in their helmets and shades. They were gone for about a half hour and when they got back I didn’t think the grins could get any bigger but they were all teeth! I guess they got to do some “off roading” and barely bumped a tree, backed up to go around and when they saw the tree it was mangled from just a tiny bump! The Soldiers at UTES were just amazing! Our main guide had his own battle with Cancer and presented Kelton with some awesome gifts including Rainier’s tickets, and a Jersey from one of the players, and eerily it was the same as KK’s number! They also gave KK some MRE’s for those days when Hospital food just isn’t cutting it.. Yeah right hmm the lesser of two evils maybe?
PllllaaaatoooooOON HALT!

The Flight Line!!
SMG Little arrives on the Flight line with his Master Aviator wings prominently displayed on his chest at 1345 hours.
Here we are greeted by Captain King of the Washington Air Guard. We were honored to watch an incredible video of Captain King and other crews flight operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the things they do with the CH-47 Chinook!! Helping others and fighting for our freedom, definitely awe inspiring! KK got to put on Captain King’s personal flight helmet for the rest of the tour where he got to try out night vision goggles get more patches (of course) and was presented with an amazing poster of the Chinook. A tour of the flight facilities and hop into an OH-58A Kiowa Helicopter.
After the “Check off” in the Kiowa, we moved out to the HUGE CH-47 outside on the actual flight line. We got indoctrination and met the crew that works so hard to keep these 23 Million dollar aircraft is tip top shape. Ok Platoon, MOUNT UP, All Hands into the BOXCAR (Army term of endearment for the Chinook)!! The Civilians and SPC Brown loaded into the back of the behemoth and those Master Aviators and Pilots filled up the Cockpit with Kelton riding jump seat. Checklists completed, start engines, start rotors…start getting sea sick on the ground… that thing rocked and rolled just sitting there you could feel the power of nearly 10,000 horsepower in the Jet turbine engines and the pull of the rotors begging to be released. All systems are go, we’re cleared for taxi on runway niner over.. roger, rogers, what’s your vector Victor and don’t call me Shirley! Brakes are released by SGM Little and we are literally being piloted (on the ground) by an 11 year old!! Well he did great and proved he was worthy of his Master aviator wings, he drove us around the tarmac and did a perfect park job when we were finished. A perfect end to an incredible day.
Thank you to all of the men and women of Ft. Lewis and Camp Murray who serve our country honorably every day and who do amazing things for their communities as well. We know that our freedom isn’t free and we thank you for all you do and for all you did for SGM Little on Friday, a special thank you to SPC Joe Brown for all of his efforts in setting up this special day for Kelton and family!!
Kelton’s personal war on cancer was an inspiration to the men and women we met and his bravery in the face of battle provides courage to us all. Keep fighting Kelton, you have all of these people fighting for you and lots of people pulling and praying for you!!
You can now hear retreat playing in the back ground,

The Radiation Express...Choo!! Choo!!
Alllllll Aboooooooard......The express Radiation train has now left the station! I say express because KK's treatments are only 8 minutes in duration. And I bet they wish they could take the train... Today was the first of 10 days of radiation treatments at the UW Medical Center . The appointment went well, as we all expected. KK's a Superstar of course! Today was also the 1st day that he had to take some pain medications for his leg, but that is normal as most patients have already been taking loads of them by this time, so don't you dare get derailed!! Ok, chugga chugga we're pulling out of the UW...next stop on the route today: The vampire depot AKA Children's Lab for blood work. KK's still doing great and impressing Dr's with his high numbers. It was then time for the train to make a detour to talk with the Dr. about how things are going. Everyone is still impressed and the treatment is going better then planned. The next round of inpatient Chemo starts next week with blood work on Monday after Radiation and then Chemo on Tuesday. Unfortunately the appointments took most of the day and Kelton wasn't able to go to school today, but he did wave from the caboose as they passed by Horizon. They fully expect to be at school after radiation treatments each morning the rest of this week. KK gets so much energy from the love, thoughts and prayers of his classmates! Thank you everyone for all you continue to do for Kelton. The bills are just now starting to arrive and insurance does not cover more then expected so please be sure to pass on the website to all your friends and let's see if we can create more financial support for this wonderful family! Send any ideas you have to idea@keltonlittle.com and please keep visiting the guestbook :-) KK reads it daily and uses that energy to keep fighting this disease that should be tied to the tracks and run over by this train!
Next update will probably be Friday evening unless there's something significant to report.. Until then keep the "Kickin' the Kancer" train on the right track with the positive energy!!
All Aboooooard ..this train has left the station..until next time, keep on track :-)

Take me out to the ball Game...
Ok I've set the mood and you're all craving Cracker Jacks now... the scene is the dugout of a Mukilteo North Little League field on a chilly April night. Last night in fact..picture the dugout of the victorious Black Knights. You're Surrounded by 11 and 12 year old boys who just won a hard fought battle on the cold, damp diamond. There's not a shiver in the bunch, just the opposite they are hot from running the bases and jogging through the line of shaking hands and high fives yet you feel goosebumps from what is about to happen... There's a tradition with this team, after each winning game, they sign a "game ball" and present it to the team member that contributed the most to the win. In walks the proud coach following the team into the dugout after shaking hands with the opposing team's coach and the umps. He is barely able to get the word's as to who should get the game ball out before the Black Knights speak nearly as one that that ball should go to Kelton! Now folks, remember these are extremely competitive pre-teen boys....so this is a BIG DEAL, as it should be! It speaks extremely highly of these young men to support their teammate who is fighting his own battle with such an honor and I know that he was extremely touched by this gift and can't wait to recieve the ball and will cherish it always. It also says so much about how these young men have been raised and coached. I want to take a moment and thank not just the players, of whom I couldn't be more proud without ever meeting them, but also their parents and Coaches Ben Greaby and Rick Berry.
Way to go Black Knights!! No matter where you are in the standings, you are Champions and Leaders on and off the field!
On another positive note, Kelton actually got to go to school for a little bit today, where another group of awesome people were there to see him, and he see them. The wonderful staff of Horizon Elementary who have been so very supportive. They are selling Kids for KK bracelets and tickets to the Kar Wash that's happening on May 17th. Kelton was, and I quote Alanna, "Super, Super Happy to be at school and see everyone!" He did have to go to the UW today to actually get tattoos for where they are going to focus the radiation on his hip and leg, and have another dry run of the procedure before the treatments start next week. Good news for Mom today though, she learned that KK never, ever wants to get a "real" Tattoo!! The process was painful, but Kelton did as we all know him to do, he was strong and bared the pain like the Champ he is, but don't expect any anchors or "tribal" art on his biceps when he hits in the major leagues someday! So other then a few bloody noses and the easily tired conditions he's staying strong, with all of your support, prayers, thoughts and notes!! So.... we're in the Bottom of the 2nd inning and KK is still Kickin' it and you, the crowd, are cheering him on and he's loving it! So...Extra Extra read all about it, KK's gonna Kick it there's no doubt about it!! Time for the rally caps!
See you next inning
