Chemo day is nearly here, tomorrow in fact.
They went in for blood work and an X-ray today. The blood work looked good and they told him that his heart rate was better then most kids that come in for the tests they did today. My and his Mother's theory for that is that it's from the calmness and determination that he exudes. He knows exactly what he is facing and is taking it head on! (though don't apply it directly to the forehead)... He also got to meet his "Child Life coach" today. He had quite a few mature and serious questions for her and from what I gather she fielded them with honesty and in a manner that he could comprehend. He got the answers he was looking for. They also had a physical therapist come in to work with him as he's starting to lose some range of motion in his leg.
So tomorrow is the 1st round of Chemo. Depending on how his body handles it determines whether they will have to keep him overnight.
So, Everyone pray hard tonight that he handles it the same and or better then he has everything else so far, that way he'll get to go home tomorrow night. They do have a boat load (that's an official medical technical amount) of medications that he needs to be on after then Chemo, anti nausea, pain control etc..... When I spoke with Alanna tonight she told me that he's 100% ready to DO IT! so Let's KICK IT!! I do have to share one other thing that she shared that just cracked me up... I guess KK wants to get the nurses in the Chemo ward to laugh. They are always asking him how he's doing, and he says that when he's on the Chemo machine tomorrow, when they ask him "How are you doing?" he's going to cluck like a Chicken and make animal noises and say something like "what's this stuff turning me into??" No matter the adversity facing him, he's so brave and has such a great sense of humor, he has the natural ability to put others at ease. He says "this is Destiny Mom" God wants me to fight this cancer and is giving me strength when I am scared.
So EVERYONE please, no matter what God you believe in or not, Keep Kelton, Richard Alanna, Jeremy and Jeffery in your thoughts and prayers and WILL this Chemo session to go well and help them fight this battle!
Consider that an order recruits!
Lt. Mike
P.S. Check back for an update tomorrow night on how things went with the Chemo.
